Pumpkinville & Corn Maze at Mitchellville
618 Center Ave. S. Mitchellville, IA 50169 / 515-967-0972
Pumpkinville is known for incorporating learning into all of our fun field trips. We charge $6.00 per child and $1.00 per adult. When calling to book a group, please have an idea of your numbers. You may firm up your numbers a couple days prior to your visit.
As part of our Fall field trips you will:
Take a tractor pulled hayrack ride, sitting on bales to the pumpkin patch to pick a pumpkin, each child must be able to carry their own pumpkin. Learn about pumpkins, squash and gourds. The hayrack will then visit the large pigs and the driver will give a brief lesson on pigs.
The mini-maze is always a fun adventure. Each child will
get a ticket and wander through the maze to find the challenges. It generally
takes 15-30 minutes to complete the mini maze. Depending on the age of the
child and the size of the group, they can either go independently or in teams -
taking turns at being the team leader.
The straw train is for all age groups. It is made up of
large and small bales. It has an engine, several cars and a caboose. The
train has become a popular place to hang out on the way to or from the mini
maze.
The straw jump is massive and always popular. We would recommend that anyone with allergies/hay fever not participate in this
activity.
The granary is a fun place to play. It is a similar to a
sand pile, only with shelled corn. It is especially good for the younger
children.
Tug-A-Pumpkin and sack races are a fun way
to challenge others, either as individuals or as teams.
Animalville has farm animals like pigs, goats, cows, ducks,
chickens and more.
A snack and a beverage are part of the
group package.
Allergies: Please let me know of any food allergies in your group. We believe all the children in your group should have the same treat. We will provide store bought treats for your group so that we can read labels and confirm safe treats for your children. For milk and peanut allergies, Oreo's or fruit snacks work well. For grain allergies we use fruit snacks. We are happy to take your suggestions and feedback on this.
Depending on your group and the time you have allowed, the weather, and the
age of the participants, you may not be able to participate in all of these
offered activities
Suggestions for group leaders:
Bring sacks to put the pumpkins in with the child's name in large letters or on a label on his/her sack. If you forget your sacks we will provide them for you with magic markers to write names on the sacks.
Reminder: This is a working farm, please dress appropriately for the
terrain, season and weather. When it is hot, it is very hot in the maze. As
the season turns cooler, it is always colder and windier on the farm than in
town.
Parties:
Campfires are available but must be pre-scheduled. We get the fire going for you, provide additional wood, provide roasting sticks, soft lighting, picnic tables and chairs. You bring your own food. Electrical hook-ups can be arranged.
Parties and meetings are happening all the time at the farm for many age groups. Birthday parties, scout meetings, church outings, youth groups, business team building activities and more are part of what is offered. Call for rates.
Referral to local catering is available upon request.
